Optional Video Project Due Wednesday, June 8th.
Macbeth - Optional Video Project
It’s time to act out some scenes from the play!
This optional video project is due June 8th.
No late projects will be accepted.
As you know, this project was inspired by my own English teacher, Mrs. Mangles, when I was in eleventh grade, 26 years ago (yikes!!). You will always remember this, just as I have.
Enjoy!
Video project: Choose a couple of scenes from the play. Act out the scenes as you record them on video. Be creative! Consider using costumes. This project can score a high grade if the appropriate EFFORT is given. Have fun! (Please make sure I will be able to open the video on the school’s computer. Or you might consider privately posting on youtube.com and sending me the link.)
Frequently Asked Questions:
Do I have to memorize my lines? Of course not, but you do want to say them in a way that shows you understand what you are saying. (FYI – I was not required to memorize my lines 26 years ago, but you know
me . . . I did anyway, of course! Ha! Ha! Ha!)
Is it ok if I work on the video with kids who are in your other classes, Mrs. McGrath?
Sure! That makes perfect sense, and it sounds like fun!
Can I work with students who are not in any of your classes, or even kids who are not
in this school? It sounds to me like you know some cool, fun people who would want to do this sort of thing with you. Sure! Why not? I would like you to get it in writing that they know we will be showing this in my class.
How many people can work together? That’s up to you. Just make sure that everyone participates in a significant way. You may have to act out more scenes in order to have everyone participate enough.
How do I get a copy of the text? You can ask me for a copy of the play and sign out a book. Or, you can print a copy of the scenes online. You can refer to my website, kmcgrath.weebly.com , or google to get a copy of the play.
How do I hand in my video? You can hand it in on a DVD or flashdrive, or you can email it to me. Some post it on youtube and email a link to me ([email protected]) Remember, you can post privately on youtube. There is no need to post publicly.
How will this grade count? If you choose to do this project, it will count as a project grade for the 4th quarter. If you choose not to do it, it will have no impact on your grade

Macbeth, by William Shakespeare
We will be reading Macbeth, by William Shakespeare.
We will be acting out this play in class.
Students are expected to complete the fill-in-the-blanks activities in their packets nightly. For each of the scenes we read in class that day, students should do their best to fill in the pages of their packets that relate to those scenes. This will help them to fully understand the play.
There will be quizzes on the Acts and a final test when we finish the play.
